Giving to the community in our own small way, CRM manager volunteers at Philabundance!
What a great afternoon we had! On Tuesday afternoon Oct 8th, we showed up to volunteer at Philabundance and not only sorted 11,206 lbs of frozen food, but we had a great time as a team and as part of the Philabundance effort to feed the hungry in the area. We learned that 1 in 4 residence in the area is at risk of hunger on a daily basis which is one of the highest in the country. Our efforts were part of a much larger effort to simply provide food to those in need. The Hunger Relief Center is extremely well organized, efficient and thankful to all that volunteer. Our supervisor, Brandon was not only knowledgeable but passionate about his job and helping those around him and shared that enthusiasm with us. Our team joined other groups from local colleges, other business and just individual volunteers in the "meat locker' to sort and package donated frozen meats for redistribution to those in need. At the end of the day, though cold and tired, we were all left with a better understanding of what Philabundance provides to the community and what is required of each of to insure their success.
We will go back ... absolutely. If your company, organization or even family is looking for a team building activity or volunteer activity, we would highly recommend this experience.
